Artist’s Statement

My background is in the Graphic Arts. I’ve studied Advertising, blending my voice with those of my coworkers, selling people things they don’t need and separating myself from my work.

I seek to communicate with pictures, universally and across cultures, using my voice to explore the elements of painting and design sharing my vision with my audience.

My work explores the human form, not it’s surface beauty but the ambiguity of emotion that lies beneath. The thread that runs between the observer and the observed.

I am fascinated by the natural world juxtaposed to the mechanization of modern technology. I blend elements of plant reproduction and right angles into my work, the warm, expanding colors of the natural world contained by or engulfing the cold, calculating grid of the mind. Order struggling with chaos, exploring the limits of the psychological box and breaking out of those restraints.
