Small Things

Small acrylic painting by Daniel Liam Gill

Acrylic and colored pencil on Hardboard I’ve been working on a series of small pieces, 6″ x 6″ inches like the original Seeds. Something to lose myself in between working with models. These pieces are sizes from 4“x4” to 8“x10”. They are priced at $20.00 -$75.00 and can be purchased with cash or check.

Inflorescence

Pencil on Wood, 12”x 24” Collection of Linda Zeilke Click to Enlarge An inflorescence is a group or cluster of flowers arranged on a stem that is composed of a main branch or a complicated arrangement of branches. Layering acrylics one compliment on top of the other gets some beautiful results. What started as…

The Scorpion & The Frog

Frog & Scorpion, Oil and Acrylic on Wood, 48" x 48" by Daniel Liam Gill

Self Portrait In college I did a piece based on Mondrian called “Mondrian Bathroom Tile”. It was one of his primary compositions reinterpreted by me with a urinal handle in the left corner. It was also stolen from the statewide show, it must have been a popular piece. I never cared too much for Mondrian’s work, distilling something to it’s…

Self Portrait

Self Portrait (The Frog & The Scorpion), Oil and Acrylic on Wood, 48" x 48" by Daniel Liam Gill

The Frog & The Scorpion I haven’t many self portraits, I can count them all on one hand. I started this piece last winter in my studio and typically of me, I forgot to shoot the original before I taped it off. The base is an abstraction made by monoprinting myself and pulling out some details. It looks like…

Cumulo Lunas

Cumulo Lunas, Oil and Acrylic on Wood, by Daniel Liam Gill

Acrylic, Oil and Colored Pencil on Wood Sometimes there are paintings where the muse takes over and magic jumps from the surface and guides my hand. I didn’t think much of this one when I added the blue green layer. It was truly as mess. I walked by it a few times and then I saw the seashell pop out at me.…

Polyploidy

Polyploidy, Acrylic, Oil and Colored pencil on Wood

Acrylic, Oil and Colored Pencil on Hardboard The first in a series of larger pieces measuring 24″ x 48′, this piece experiments with animal and vegetable forms. The seething stew at the base and the ribbon storm overhead in a courtship dance. Bad writing and pretension aside, it’s a collection of pleasing and violent shapes whose meaning is yours…

Sentinels

Sentinels, Acrylic and Oil on Hardboard, by Daniel Liam Gill

Acrylic, Oil and Colored Pencil on Hardboard I’m gearing up for my featured show at My Color Image Gallery in March, doing figure work and abstract paintings. The first or which is this piece that I call “Sentinels”. I’ve used this 12″ x 24″ format before on my hip studies and have adapted it to fit these abstracts.…

Ploidy

Ploidy, Acrylic on Wood, 24" x 24"

Acrylic on Wood Ploidy is a Dysphagia type construction with a sandwiched experiment as it’s base. It doesn’t fit into the rest of the series but looks very much like a tadpole on it’s way to froggydom. I’ve never been too found of this shade of yellow but it does work well in this composition.

Perry and Truffle

Perry and Truffle, Acrylic and Oil on Masomite by Daniel Liam Gill

Acrylic and Oil on Hardboard I started this piece back in the Raw Visceralia days. It sat in my basement in Portland for years, starring at me from the gloom, it always gave me a giggle. I finished it in Wilmington. It’s called Perry and Truffle for lack of a better name.
